At the 2024 British Open Air Gun Championships,
held at Bisley, over the weekend of 24th/25th February 2024, Wales now has
three British Champions for 2024:
Aidan Healey (Mens Junior Rifle)
Seren Thorne (Womens Junior Rifle)
Lucy Banner (Womens Junior Pistol).
Wales also won through to take the Mens and Womens Junior Rifle Home Country Championships.
Lucy Thomas (Womens Junior Pistol) took 2nd place in the Olympic Final.
Megan Bamsey (Rifle Women) won through to 3rd place in the Olympic Final.
Douglas Floyd (Rifle Junior Men) took 3rd place in the Olympic Final.
Alun Evans took 3rd place in the WSPS SH1 Rifle Olympic Final.
At the December 2023 British Shooting Pistol Series competition held at Aldersley, James Miller equalled his Welsh Record Score of 582 x 600 and Lucy Banner came within 1 point of the current Womens Record Score (held by Coral Kennerley).
At the ISSF Junior World Cup, Spain, February 2024,
Seren Thorne claimed Silver and 2nd place in Womens Air Rifle, setting a new British
Junior Women's 10m Air Rifle Final record score.
Seren, with Aston Upton, won through with a new British record Score and
then took the Bronze Medal Match in the Air Rifle Mixed Team event.
At the 46th Intershoot, held in The Hague, The Netherlands,
held from 1st to 3rd February 2024, Wales fielded 11 competitors along with 12
other people – 15 by air and 8 by vehicles via Eurotunnel.

On the Saturday, in Rifle Women Junior, Seren Thorne set a new Welsh Record Score of 621.8, this score also setting a new British Record Score
(subject to ratification).
Amy Lott also set a new Welsh Record Score in Rifle Women Senior of 624.6.

The Welsh Airgun Association is to commence a closer partnership with the
Welsh Target Shooting Federation by hiring the 10m airgun range in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on one
weekend day a month, starting with Saturday 13th May 2023.
Association members may book an AM (9-12) and/or a PM (2-5) slot by email to:

There will a nominal cost of £5.00 per slot, payable in advance to the Association.
The sessions will be for Novice to Elite level shooters interested in developing their Sporter,
Precision Pistol, and Precision Rifle skills, and will also be an opportunity for WAA coaches to observe
those athletes wishing to begin the Pathway to be selected to represent Wales at domestic and International
competitions.
Association members may register their request to attend as a Pathway athlete by emailing: waaenquires@gmail.com by the 31st of May 2023, stating their name, discipline(s) and current average score(s).

Craig Welsh (WSPS SH1 Rifle) took 1st place to take the Championship.
Sasha Mikhailov (Junior Mens Pistol) took 1st place to become Junior Mens Air Pistol Champion.
Lucy Banner (Junior Womens Pistol) took 1st place to become Junior Womens Air Pistol Champion.
Seren Thorne (Junior Womens Rifle) gained 2nd place in the Junior Womens Air Rifle Olympic Final.

Eliott Bromfield (Mens Pistol) and Kate Thomas (Junior Womens Pistol) made their respective Olympic Finals.

At the recent 2020 Annual General meeting, held by the Zoom internet conferencing service for the first time, Hilary Thomas stepped down as a Director and Robert Shawyer joined the Board as a Director.
Due to the uncertain situation with coronavirus, the WAA Board has taken the decision to cancel the 2020 Welsh
Airgun event, orginally scheduled to take place in Cardiff between 23rd to 25th October 2020.
Whilst things have been continually evolving, not enough information is available to plan ahead with some certainty; we recognize that this decision
will come as a disappointment, however, we hope you will understand why this decision has been taken.
We are looking forward to providing athletes with a full 3-day event in 2021.
Due to the uncertain situation with coronavirus, the WAA Board has decided to delay the release of the entry form for the 2020
Welsh Airgun.
The delay will allow more clarity on the situation with indoor sport, hotels, travel, etc., within Wales.
A decision will be taken towards the end of July and it is hoped that the entry form can be released in the first week of August 2020.

First competition of the season saw five Welsh Athletes compete at Yate Regional centre.
Target Sprint is an International Sport Shooting Federation "ISSF" recognised and promoted sport under the ambit of "sport for all" with World tour and World Championship events. The ISSF have pushed this sport, as have British Shooting, much to their credit.
The team travelled by car, mini-bus and air to The Hague for Intershoot 2019, with practice on the Thursday followed by three days of competition.
