Welsh Airgun 2015  (Added 7th April 2015)

The Association Board has, today, taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2015 Welsh Airgun event.

The clash with the two World Cup rugby matches in Cardiff is/will make it very difficult to get reasonable accommodation in Cardiff and it was decided that moving the event was too much of a risk from a financial point of view.

It is planned to hold a 2016 Welsh Airgun event in Cardiff, and efforts will be made to try and make sure that the date does not clash with events at the Millennium Stadium.

Talent Identification  (Added 27th February 2014)

The Association, in partnership with the WTSF, has organised two weekends, one in North Wales over 7th/8th March and one in South Wales over 22nd/23rd March, to allow invited shooters to attend a session to assess whether they have the interest and potential to move into either the Association's rifle or pistol squad and then move on to the WTSF HP squad and then maybe on to GB level.

These sessions are not meant to be a "come along and have a go", they are meant for shooters aspiring to move on from club level to national and international level.

Shooters will need to bring their own rifle or pistol and whatever other equipment they normally use to shoot.

The session is likely to take some 2 hours in the morning or afternoon and will encompass include such things as an informal chat and history / information gathering, a short on range session (maybe 20-30 mins, including assessment of position and technique) and further data gathering around the shooter's aspirations, objectives, time commitments, attitude, physical fitness, etc.

The North Wales weekend is to take place in Wrexham, and the South Wales event is to take place in Cardiff.

Shooters do not have to be Association members, but would be expected to join the Association if selected to attend the Association's squad training sessions.

The number of people able to attend is limited, so shooters aspiring to attend should email the Secretary with a short shooting and personal CV as soon as possible.

The shooting and personal CV may be completed by a coach, parent, or family member on behalf of the shooter.

Deadline for application to the Secretary (see email address at the bottom of this web page) is 5pm Tuesday 4th March 2014.
